Long Island STEM Hub to Hosted 4th Annual Long Island Teacher Professional Development Day
To continue to bring industry and education together, the Long Island STEM Hub, one of several within the SUNY led Empire State STEM Learning Network, hosted the 4th Annual Long Island Teacher Professional Development Day on November 7, 2017. Keep an eye out for the 2018 event on 11/6/18.
The day provided K-12 teachers the opportunity to learn about and visit local industry settings. There, they explored science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) career options for students and skills needed so that they can reflect this in their curriculum.
Participating companies included: Brookhaven National Laboratory, Northwell Health, Catholic Health Services, Composite Prototyping Center, Cradle of Aviation, , HIA-LI (Biodex, Portnoy Messinger Pearl), Maritime Explorium, New York Institute of Technology – Entrepreneurship & Technology Innovation Center and School of Health Professionals, PSEG Long Island, Microsoft retail at Walt Whitman Mall and We Connect the Dots.
